Craft A Paper Winter Snowflake

A paper snowflake is a very festive craft during the winter and also one of the easiest to make once you get the hang of it. Here's how to make a classic 6 point snowflake out of paper.

Step 1

Grab a scissors and a regular piece of paper, this one is 8x11.

Step 2: Fold it into a square

Fold the piece of paper so that it makes a square (if it wasn't square to begin with). You should have a little flap on the side.

Step 3: Cut

Cut the extra piece of paper from the rest of the soon-to-be paper snowflake.

Step 4: Fold again

Take the triangle that you now have and fold it again into a smaller triangle.

Step 5: More folding

Take one side of the triangle and fold it halfway over the rest of the paper.

Step 6: Last fold

Take the unfolded side of the triangle and fold it over the remaining side. Make sure the 2 sides align nicely and there is no overhangs, otherwise the snowflake will not be even.

Step 7: Cut

Cut along where the marked line is. This step is not necessary at this point but it makes handling the paper snowflake easier.

Step 8: Trace a design

You can now trace a design into your snowflake, or if you don't have anything in mind you can freestyle a design as long as you make sure not to cut the edges of the snowflake in the wrong place.

Step 9: Cut

Cut the design out. If you draw a design, make sure to cut outside the edges.

Finished!

Step 10: Unwrap the snowflake

Now carefully unwrap the snowflake making sure not to tear any delicate parts. Smooth out the creases and you're done.
