Scarves Are Versatile Accessories
A scarf can be one of the most versatile accessories in your closet. It can keep your neck, and shoulders warm. It can double up as a cute handbag, and can even be used as a beachy tank-top or a warm cozy! It's all about tying it correctly, in this article I'm going to show you the many ways you can transform your scarf into an chic accessory by learning how to tie the scarf and experimenting with different types of knots.

Neck Wrap
A neck wrap will not only do what its name implies (keep your neck warm), but it is also one of the simple and ironically, the most chic of ways to wear a scarf. This is the basic use for any square scarf, but a square scarf, as well as a large pashmina, can also be used to create a handbag (see below).
- Fold your square scarf in a triangle.
- Let the pointed edge hang on your chest
- Tie the 2 long ends behind your neck.
- Adjust the under part of the scarf to make it appear “voluminous”
- Tighten as needed to create different lengths.
Scarf Handbag
- Lay your scarf on a flat surface spread out.
- Put a magazine in the middle of the scarf (or something else relatively flat and hard), to give the handbag a sturdy base.
- Take the opposite diagonal ends of the scarf and tie them together.
- Take the 2 remaining ends of the scarf and tie them together over the other 2 ends.
- Make sure the knots are tight, and voila! A scarf transformed into a bag!

The Classic Hollywood Knot
- Put the scarf around your neck and let one end hang lower than the other.
- Put the long end over the short end
- Wrap the long end under the little triangle that forms between your neck and the scarf.
- Pull the 2 ends in opposite directions
- Loop the long end under the little triangle again, underneath everything.
- Now tighten the knot that forms
- Spread out the top part of the scarf to give it “volume”

7 Creative Ways To Tie A Scarf
The Shawl Wrap
- Take a pashmina or a large square scarf.
- If you are using a pashmina, drape it around your back and tie it in the front at your chest.
- If you are using a square scarf wrap it in half first and then drape it around your back
- Add a pretty broach where you tie the 2 ends in the front to complete the look.
Tank-Top Scarf
- Take a large square scarf.
- Fold it into a triangle
- Wrap it from the front to the back with the pointed side down.
- Tie the ends of the scarf in the back where your shoulder blades are.
- Double knot the scarf or secure with a safety pin (to avoid embarrassing accidents).
The European Loop
- Fold the scarf in half so that the ends meet.
- Wrap the scarf around your neck
- Loop the 2 ends of the scarf through the loop that forms.
- Tighten the ends and adjust the scarf.
